Let's talk about rap in Chinese

Would love your opinions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPbkYLKSIBY

As I continue to study Chinese, I've started to create some videos on a random set of fun topics, and I'd love your feedback.

Dude that was really cool, I've never really thought about rap music in other languages. Also your Chinese is amazing and very impressive

Thanks so much! Trying to listen to music in other languages is really fun, although I find it really challenging, but it's a good place to learn slang too :)

My favorite Chinese singer (and perhaps my favorite singer period, at the moment) is definitely G.E.M., or 邓紫棋. The fact that she writes her own songs is really fascinating, and she has the most beautiful, versatile voice. I really enjoy her.

Your Chinese is incredible- bravo! I aspire to that level of proficiency. Some Chinese raps I like are “穿越火线”, “飘向北方”, and “死了都要爱”; I haven't fully learned any of them yet, though. XD

I use spotify for music, sometimes it gives me great suggestions! I find a lot more artists this way then I thought I would! This is how I found Bohan Phoenix, and Higher Brothers!

  • First songs I heard from Bohan Phoenix: NO HOOK, OVERSEAS and PRODUCT.
  • First songs I heard from Higher Brothers: Yahh, Why Not, WeChat, Wudidong, mine, & Made in china.

One issue with spotify is they are still working on supporting some languages. It can be a bit of a task when searching songs or artists! However they keep working on it, there is still hope!

*edit. I watched the video after and I noticed many of the song I named you mentioned or I heard in the video clip. I know so little of the language I am not able to just understand. I would have to really look into the meanings to better understand. I did find the video interesting as you answered some questions I was wondering about!

Thank you! I will check Ty! If I find a collaboration he has done with Higher Brothers, then it should not be too difficult to find his music!
