Does it mean that the statue is sculpted by Matej, or that the statue is a figure of Matej sculpted by someone else? Is there a difference in Czech? Diky moc!

It can be both. Though much more common is to say "socha Matěje" for a figure of Matěj sculpted by someone.

The English sentence implicates Matej should still make the statue, right? Is this the same in Czech? I assume this since it's the stone FOR his statue and not of.
