À tous mes francophones. I read that some expressions we say in English cannot pair well or French or have completely different meaning. Chaud/e is one of them. I saw on here somewhere that the lesson said tu es si chaud(you’re so hot) but I have a friend in France who’s a teenager and he said to not use chaud to describe someone because it’s sexual. So what word do you use to say that someone’s hot and why is that? Merci
The difference lies in which verb you use. In French, to feel a high temperature is used with the verb avoir. If you use être, it can be construed as sexual.
- Tu as chaud = You are hot (high temperature)
- Tu es chaud = You are hot (randy, excited)
