Crown system hurts people affected with OCD

Please, please let us some of us use the old system! Now that all lessons look unfinished, I can't proceed further. Moreover, since trying to complete earlier lessons takes forever now, I'm loosing advanced skills while doing repetitive "De nada".

Please fix this!

Yes! The crown update is utterly horrible!! Bring back the gold tree!

This thread gives a way to roll back to the older layout, at least for now. https://www.duolingo.com/comment/26677923

I thought the new system looked really untidy compared to the old system where skills were clearly gilded or not. I didn't stop to think how it'd affect people with OCD though, but now it is pointed out I doubt you're the only one having this problem.

If they wanted to add more grades to the system rather than simply gilded or not they could have gone with skills turning silver for good proficiency and gold for excellent proficiency or maybe bronze, silver and gold if they wanted three levels. That way the tree would look much more tidy than how terribly cluttered it is now with loads of little numbers to look at. Also it's ridiculous that skills don't decay any more. Crowns just reflect grinding skills, they don't reflect effective spaced repetition and revision over time.

Seems to me that the old system was one large symptom-promoter for the person with OCD. Never having had the impulsion to get everything the same color will be easier. Maybe those who have been used to the system will come to appreciate that Duolingo is no longer a constantly refreshing trigger.

More lessons is fine, but I like the old % fluent way better! Let's go back!
