Translation:Nosotros compramos chorizos picantes.
It shouldn't be wrong since the English sentence is also using the gerund.
Why not "salchichas"? Chorizo is already picante, that is what Chorizo is. Salchichas can be sweet and spicy, but not all salchichas picantes are chorizos.
Thanks therabbit86ed, it's good to know different vocabulary, although why salchichas is not accepted is a mystery (not unlike a number of Duo's 'translations').

A more generic term for "sausage" is salchicha or embutido.
I don't think choirizo is the best translation for "sausage," in general, but it is a little more generic than what most Americans associate with chorizo.
