Does this Update adapt the french course to the new crown system?

Both things are independent:

  • the crown-system is designed for all courses and is only about how you are evaluated/awarded things/what exercises the system presents you/etc. (not about course's content, about what the volunteers put in the course).
  • the new version of the "French from English" tree is specific to that course and is a change in the content (not about how you are evaluated/awarded things/what exercises the system presents you/etc.)

So this new version of the course is not an adaptation to anything (crown or something else), it's a new content.
But it'll work with the crown system because that one has been made (by staff) to work with all courses.

Yes. The new course and the crown system are compatible.

r there any Russian trees?

There are currently, on Duolingo, one available tree/course teaching Russian ("Russian from English") and two under construction ("Russian from Spanish" and "Russian from Turkish"), as you can see here, here or here.
