Audio Challenges

Let me know if I'm the only one who feels this way.

I find it frustrating to start a new lesson, then five seconds later be thrown into an audio challenge. It's not that they're bad and I don't want them disabled, I just want the pacing to let me learn how the word is spelled a bit more before throwing me in. I feel like I'm being penalized because I didn't memorize the spelling in my one time seeing the word.

I agree, that is something I find annoying with the Portuguese course on here. Sometimes, my first couple of exercises are just audio challenges. I'm still getting used to the pronunciation rules with this language, and the audio isn't always clear with the pronunciation. That isn't terrible as people don't always enunciate in actual speech, but I need a base to learn from.

I try to analyze the words as best I can, so when I see it again, I can get it down. I find it's sometimes easy to go fast with the courses in Duolingo, but that isn't a great idea for learning. I would try to take your time and soak it up.

I felt the same way and It got to the point where I could not deal with it anymore so I just turned it off. Probably not the right move but like you I was frustrated and It toke me 2-3 tries to get the question right. So no you are not the only one.

Everything is very difficult in the beginning. Don't worry, it gonna change and you gonna improve with the time. Good studies. Good luck. Go ahead!

I agree. I have found that I need to re-do lessons to get the audio challenges right. It seems to be working at a lot of different levels and if you don't take note of spelling etc. you get a lot wrong. The tiny cards are a help as they give a lot of repetition - but they don't count as points.
