580 day streak lost due to fault in the app. £11.90 requested to reinstate it.
I had a 580 streak in Dutch until today. I completed two units yesterday, me in Dutch and one in Italian. They were both revision units. Neither of them went gold after completing so I did them again, same result. Yesterday I logged on to the website to complete them but did not have time to complete a unit - the same one I had already done twice in the app, today I logged on again to discover that my streak had gone. I’m not happy and furious that I’m expected to pay for reinstatement.
Sorry that this sounds like a rant, but when something you’ve used and enjoyed and recommended to lots of people treats you like that it’s hard to take!
Hi Andrew198950... eek! Sorry that you got that scare! We are actively looking into this (this is a suspected bug). Please remember to send in a Bug Report to add your details to the bug tracking file, so that we can look into reinstating your streak as well! Please include a link to this thread and your username in the report. It is also helpful if you include details such as dates, app version, platforms, web browsers, etc. that this happened on.
I have had problems on Spanish too, losing streak and progress on lessons not registering on ipad but working ok on PC. I submitted this to the bug report earlier today. Lets hope the Team solve these issues for us all. Like you I have recommended Duolingo to loads of friends and love it
I've had a similar intermittent problem over the last year or longer. It happens when I am working on different exercises on my computer and on my phone. In the middle of an exercise on my computer I go out for something, and while I am out I use my phone (Android) to do other exercises. Sometimes, and only sometimes, one of the exercises I finished gets lost. I have not seen a consistent reason for why sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't. Is there anything I can do to help track it down. As all these other people are saying, it is frustrating sometimes.
It is best if you move this to troubleshooting or the general forum. Staff will be most likely to see it then. You can move this by editing your post.
The only thing I can see is that the last time a lesson was registered was on Sunday. It may be that your internet connection was bad and the app didn't sync. Or perhaps there was something up with the app, though that's for staff to decide.
Same happened to me today. I had a 462 days streak. Yesterday I finished my daily goal with some trouble. I had to do many more lessons besides my daily goal, because they were not getting registered in the system. I had to switch to different lessons to finally be able to complete the daily goal. But today surprisingly the streak is gone even tough I completed my yesterday’s lesson and got some gems for it. I have already reported it in the bug forum.
Same here, lost streak even though I had completed the lessons (also the progress towards crowns or whatever lost). Seems to be in app only, though unconfirmed, it just seems to reset all the time. Already reported three times, no reply.
Seems crazy to complain about a streak, but it actually keeps me doing the lessons...

Well, WAS happy since they restored my streak, and some of the reset lessons, but I was tentative. Reason being that I knew that there was going to be a day this month where I wouldn't be able to do any lessons and I wasn't sure if they'd restored the streak freeze that got used the first time things got reset.
Lo and behold it didn't get reset and I lost it, again. And no response to the support messages. Might be time for a change...
