"Do you want to ride the pony?"
Translation:Veux-tu monter le poney ?
Millions of sentences. Five volunteers. That's why.
Also users don't report the errors and omissions enough.
Does it actually take you guys months to get around to individual sentences? Do people report them that much?
Does it actually take you guys months to get around to individual sentences?
Yes. Sometimes even years, especially if it's an obscure and difficult sentence that Duo doesn't usually show to users. We're unpaid volunteers. We have separate lives outside of Duolingo. Since there are millions of sentences, which can have from one up to several thousand valid translations, not every sentence will get fixed quickly.
Do people report them that much?
Not enough. If people don't report them, we don't see them. We will notice sentences a lot more if they get reported by as many users as possible. This one only had 20 correct reports and it's been around for seven months. That's not enough. Not to mention we have to wade through 90% of bad reports.
Just got a Duolingo feedback email. "Voulez-vous monter le poney" should now be an acceptable translation
I think I have seen here the suggested translation of poney as le petit cheval
Interestingly, only "monter à poney" (to ride a pony or to ride ponies) and "monter le poney" (to ride the pony) are grammatically correct. "Monter au poney" is not correct. I don't know how else to explain this peculiarity.
