No crowns? Yes and it is easy

The crown theme is saturating the forums, I think it's not so bad, especially for the one that starts, it can be avoided in Android.

If you use Android try this version In "Settings / security" of your device you must have enabled the option of strange sources (against the suggestion of any antivirus or similar) and you must uninstall the newer version first

That site is the mirror of the appstore, they are the same installers that once we use, there you can download any old version, 3.60 of the link is the last one that is not compatible with the crowns system and therefore you will have the same system as always with the gold units.

The 3.50 is the last one that does not use energy from that previous system and with it you can buy the extra units that were removed of several languages (English, Portuguese, Italian, maybe another one as well) can use them to advance in the tree in the old system without major inconveniences and then update to enhance them with the crowns, if you want. Also, the extra units are associated with the user's account, so they will be available later in any version or platform you want.

For the users of always I think that it was necessary to enable a "Config" option to switch between one system or another, so we can have more time to assimilate the change, it did not cost much and would have been more friendly.

PS: All remains as usual, the unit colors, the lingots at the first time we complete a new unit, etc but all that lessons you do in the previous version do not count in the crowns levels, so, i think eventually at the end we all will be moving on to the new system, because, with or without crowns we re-do the same lessons once and again.

THANK YOU!!!!! I was wondering if an old app version might not support the crowns...

Many thanks for this thread, Andresb_UY, you've saved my sanity!

I'm using now an old Android app and also the Win10 app (which doesn't have crowns either).

Do you have any suggestion for iPhone? I’m appalled by the crowns. It’s clearly a money making feature to snag people into paying money to proceed. Earlier today I could practice till the cows came home. I just tried the new way with the crowns and died before the lesson was over. This never happened before whilst practicing. It’s so disheartening.

As far i know, your system dont allow you to use any older versions.

I am agree with you and i believe those who sell smoke prefers ios so... some cheap android phone?

April 7, 2018

Thank you for the info, greatly appreciated. I’m hearing you and if I had an android phone laying around I’d put it to use on this occasion. Unfortunately I don’t so it’s all too hard. Think I might take a leaf out of your pic and go fishing instead. I’d get a hell of a lot more satisfaction out of that than Duolingo.

Do you have any suggestion for iPhone?

throw it in the trash and get a normal phone

April 8, 2018

Well that’s just stating the obvious however it’s not a quick fix. Let’s face it, in this day and age all we really want is simplicity at its finest and ahhh back to the topic, it’s neither or. Safe to say, fishing would be the perfect fix to take our minds off the mundane right about now.

> "For iOS it's version 4.8.10 that will remove both crowns and health."

If it works, thanks to Bill

Tell us later ;)

Thank you so much for coming back and letting me know, you’re a gem. :-) I’m not having any luck as of yet finding that version but I’ll happily keep looking. Will keep you posted, no pun intended. ;-)

April 10, 2018

I’m still searching for what now feels like the holy grail. I’ve tried using the .eu site instead of .com which is something and better than nothing but just not the same. Again, thanks for the thought and if you happen to find the holy grail let me know. ;-)

a cheap android? (It will not hurt you) You can access some things (not much, true) that you can not with your system.

April 13, 2018

Yes, I’m hearing you and no, it will not hurt me. :-) I was really enjoying learning so a cheap android it will be. Then a decent android when it’s time to upgrade down the track and rid myself free of apple. When it comes to decent androids, can you recommend any particular brand?

April 13, 2018

Nop, but any android 6.0 or higher It would be the most advisable. Install in the SD all your apps, etc and then you just switch it from/to any phone.

And/or you can have different groups of apps in different disks, i use that to go outdoors with "those" and not the ones I always need.

April 13, 2018

That sounds like a great start. Many thanks again for all of your info, I’m very appreciative. Well, seems I’m off fishing for something else now. :-)
