I agree! I was on duolingo daily to keep all of the lessons up to date. This is disruptive after 45,000 skill points. I'll be switching to www.portugueselab.com

Ever tried their web demo? I did for Portuguese. I had enough. Have not bothered to order with (huge) discounts.

Ha, ha..... Language101 just wants to sell their own language training program. Their 'reviews' are really cheap shots at others products to profile themselves. I wouldn't trust them one millimeter.

45,000 points! That's awesome. I was over 29,000 - now it seems I'm back to square one. Yes, it can be considered a review, but like you, I was on duolingo daily to to keep all my lessons up to date. REALLY! I do not need to review the most basic lessons.

After thinking about this, I guess Duolingo will still work OK for what I was doing--working through the course over and over for vocabulary and grammar practice. Having reached Level 25, levels were no longer a motivating factor, so the streak days and keeping the lessons golden were the only motivator. (I don't think little crowns with numbers in them will be a motivator for me, maybe more so if I had been a beginner?) And I'm not quite sure what one actually does with Lingots other than award them to others or perhaps put a track suit costume onto the little owl on the phone app? Duolingo works OK in tandem with more advanced podcasts at normal speaking speed, which build comprehension.

That's funny, I came from RS to duo... There's probably a best way to learn a language, but at the end of the day we get out of our studies what we put into them. There's something to be said for picking a path and staying on it until it leads to another. That should allow for progression towards a language proficiency goal better than trying to find the perfect path... maybe.
