Because this Crown system has caused unnecessary unhappiness with so many of us who love Duolingo, would it be possible to resrore the system under which so many of us have spent long hours working. happily looking to the next day? While some seem to like it, I sense the majority of us who have labored long and hard would like at least the option to return to the fine system that has brought and kept us here. Thanks for listening.
The crown popularity is split with a lot of people liking it so it is not likely that it will go away.
Then it's a case of "Go fight City Hall"? The crowns may remain, but a lot of others with valuable experience from the regular method are opting out. It's difficult enough to learn a new language, why change something that has worked so well for so long? I'll never quit, but now I just do the exercises robbed of enthusiasm.
I see that it felt better to have everything golden, but there was no chance to see how many times you've already praticed a skill, how solid your knowledge really is. Now you can go higher than the simple gold before. It also makes sense that it a lot of work to got to the top level.
On the other hand, I miss a decay indicator (based on error rate and time) and the timed practice (also while leveling up the crowns). I also don't see the promised increase in difficulty by question style and content yet, but I still hope that all this will be implemented in a couple of weeks or months. At the moment, crowns is still an empty framework. Maybe they could have waited with the release, or communicate it better. I still think that it's a step in the right direction, but the stuff mentioned above has to be done.
Hi, you could still get to use the old system. I have disabled the auto app update on my phone so the app didnt update to the new crown system. So Im using both systems, the old system on the phone and the new crown system on the laptop.
If you still want to have the old system, here is what you can do, follow the instructions on this discussion : https://www.duolingo.com/comment/26845889
hope it helps
