Hebrew -English course.

I was wondering if there's going to be Hebrew to English course. And if so is it going to be anytime soon ?

I think this app is amazing and my mom could really use it to learn English, if only there was heb-eng.

Thanks.

My understanding is that many Hebrew speakers already know English, so the demand for such a course wouldn't be very high. But I hope I'm wrong - I'd love to see it!

This is true. Pretty much everyone under a certain age in Israel is fluent in English. I was told it is because they don’t dub t.v. there,, so everyone grows up listening and watching English/American shows and movies, in addition to learning English in school.

This is only partially true. Some people speak English very well, but there are many Israelis who don't speak at all or badly. It depends which circles you move in.

Yep, actually the t.v. thing was a concious decision by the gouvernement (or so I have been told) They wanted to raise English fluency nationwide, so they mostly stoped dubbing, and it worked like magic!

I don't think that's the reason- getting something dubbed takes studio time plus paying a voice actor. You might be right, but I think it's more out of cost wise.

We learn it at school, forgein TV & movies are with Hebrew subtitles (unlike Russian or French who preffer dubbing).

That actually makes sense. most people I know do speak english. which saddens me for my mom, she's shy and wont go to a course. The app is her best choice, I really hope there would be a course.

If she knows at least some english, maybe she could try Hebrew for english speakers course. (it would sort of be like doing the reverse tree, which is something alot of people like to do)

It's a long shot since most Israelis speak English. But this might help her: http://il.talkenglish.com/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSA1gvxALsg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nIv2YiXXt5w
