Please bring back the fanfare when you level up

One of the things that I most enjoyed was seeing the screen that said I leveled up. I considered that more of an accomplishment than the fluency score because it was based on actual work. I just leveled up, and there was nothing... What a disappointment.

The crowns mean nothing to me, especially since all the skills are back to 1s and 2s. Having to redo all the skills is discouraging, so I'd rather concentrate on leveling up to see that I'm accomplishing my goal. But without something that says congratulations or you reached another level, the accomplishment can pass without notice.

It doesn't feel like I'm getting anywhere.

I had the same problem. Reached level 25 in Italian, and there was no acknowledgement. That was quite disappointing... I filled a bug report mentioning this problem.

Wow! That would be disappointing. Congrats on reaching level 25! I gave you a lingot to celebrate your success!

Same here. I was expecting something for reaching L25 in German. Nothing. Shame.

I liked being able to share leveling up with my Facebook friends and family. Now, I can't. Such a disappointment.

See, that's the thing. Being able to do those kinds of things helps encourage us to keep going.

Also, that makes for an excellent way to get people (Facebook contacts/friends) to check out Duolingo.

It looks like Duolingo has someone making decisions, who really should not be doing so.

Very good point. They're missing out on an opportunity to market their own site by taking it away.

I agree, Fanfare was so enjoyable as was a shiny achievement badges. Audible and visual elements as those add much more statisfaction when go through and completing the lessons. Lets have them back, eh?

when i level up, duolingo says"you've leveled up to (a number), so you get (same amount of lingots as level you just leveled up to)!" but i do wish we still had the achievment "shiny" because i was on the last star when it disappeared.

I wonder why I didn't get anything. I just leveled up, and Duolingo didn't say anything.

There is no announcement for leveling up or for lingots earned for leveling up.

Same here when I leveled up yesterday; no announcement or lingots. It did display the new level on my profile, at least, which I was wondering if they would remove as well.

Unfortunately, unless you look at your profile, you don't see the new level.

When I level up within a skill (the crown levels 1-5), there is a fanfare and an announcement. But when I level up in the language, say from level 13 to level 14, there is nothing.
When I am getting close to leveling up in a language, I now have to keep checking my profile, as LoriBeth says, to see if I've reached that milestone.
If there are any lingots for any of this, they are not announced.

I agree, I really liked the fanfare as well. It motivated me much more.

Something about this seems to be in flux. The first couple of times that I got a crown I got a fanfare and a couple of lingots. Now there's a fanfare but no lingots for crowns, and nothing whatsoever for leveling up.

I get that there's lingot inflation, and that giving out 2 lingots per crown is probably overkill. Also, once you get a bunch of levels, you probably already have more lingots than you know what to do with. (I sure do.) But going up a level in a language is a real milestone, and both the fanfare and the lingots used to make it feel special.

Please bring them back.

The little fanfare was my favourite and really encouraging! I haven't logged into duolingo for a weeks and am really disappointed to see it's been revamped into a confusing mess.

I agree. Following the crowns changes I got a fanfare for reaching level 2 of saying "Yes" and "No" in French, but not for reaching Level 23!

That's odd. It seems that this is working (or not working!) differently for different people. I hit level 23 in Spanish and Italian, one right after the other. I didn't get a fanfare or lingots for either one, but it DOES say that I'm at level 23 for both!

I don't know if "no fanfare and no lingots" is a new policy or just a bug, but "no public credit on your newly gained levels" is obviously a bug. You can bet that it will get fixed sooner or later.

Yes, so boring redoing all the early skills. Does anyone know how you bypass them - or "level up"?

I had seen this discussion a few days ago and as I had just been moved to crowns as was also about to level up to 21 I was curious too, No fanfare no lingot not even a visual screen to acknowledge you have achieve something is a real let down,

particularly when you get the owl telling your doing good when you get 5 questions in a row right

I feel duolingo has cheapen real achievement and the learning process this whole update has really disappointed longtime users enough that many are using the discussion to either vent their frustration or to share tips on other language resources.

DL lack of communication on any of these discussions speaks volumes

I feel the same too. I got Level 23 in Italian but nothing happened - no acknowledgement or reward of any kind. I am sure when I got other levels there was a Congratulations Screen and this achievement could be shared to Facebook? It said Level 23 on my profile but the number against the Italian flag said Level 22 and this was not updated for 24 hours. All my skills were set back to Level 1 when I recently got the Crowns. I found this disappointing but actually working back through them again has given me more confidence in my language ability. I have noticed that as I am working through the skills it is affecting other skills further along in the tree and they are increasing to Levels 2 and 3.

You can turn off the sound effects and still keep on the sound for voice prompts. Just go into your settings. I believe it's under "configuration".
