Why can;t I say "Ich mag Orangen mehr als Äpfel"?

Interesting, I'd have accepted it, as a native speaker. It just sounds less strong than lieber, it's rather a tendency or an inclination than a real preference.

My question as well

What is wrong with "Ich habe Orangen lieber als Äpfel."? I just did an exercise where Duo ask us to translate "Ich habe Katzen lieber als Hunde."

The top hints point to: Ich habe liber Orangen über Äpfel.

Ouch. With "als" instead of "über" it could pass, maybe.

So ... that's what I put ('Ich habe lieber Orangen als Apfel' - with the umlaut on the A, sorry I can't get it here), following the hints and a hunch about the 'than' (it's true that the hint suggests 'über'). Is it OK enough to warrant me reporting it?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but "als" was not in the hints, except under "mag" ("like"), and then it was "als ob."

Why put "habe" in the tooltip for "like" and then mark it wrong?
