Flags

I like to check how close courses are from beta on 'Add a new course' but I can't see the flags for the reverse courses e. g Russian, is this just happening to me or is anyone else have this problem and will it be fixed?

Hi Cyanaeros! Can you give a slightly more detailed description of your problem? What do you mean you can't see the flag for the reverse course? Perhaps your problem is that you only chose one language in the drop-down list? :)

Hi Cyanaeros, you will only see the flag icons for courses that have the same base language as the course you have currently selected.

Target language (the language you are learning).
Base language (the language you are learning from).

For instance, I am guessing that when you posted this, your base language was English and you are learning French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, and Italian from English because those are the flags I can see. (You will know the base language by the interface. If in the blue bar at the top of the page it says in English "Home" "Activity" "Discussion" "Immersion" that is the base langauge.)

If those words were in Spanish, your base language would be Spanish and the possible flags would be French, English, and Portuguese because right now those are the only courses one can take from Spanish (I believe).

Don't worry, if you are signed up for a course with a different base langauge, those stats aren't gone, they are just saved with the interface of the other base language. It will all be waiting for you when you go and change back to that base language. You can do that from here: https://www.duolingo.com/settings/direction

I hope this has helped to answer your question. ^_^

This is probably because those courses have an English target language. (Learn English from those languages rather than learn those languages from English.)
