Une belle frayeur

You've seen this probably on TV and newspapers:

Hopefully all ended happily.

My question is about "une belle frayeur".

Why "belle", not grande etc. was used here? Isn't "belle" kept only for positive stuff? How can be that feeling of fear, horror, panic is with an adjective "beautiful"? Is such combination used in daily language?

If there are more, please share. Thank you in advance.

"belle" has been used in that case because nothing bad happened. And yes this expression "belle frayeur" is used quite often.
