French Podcast for Intermediate Learners (A2/B1)
A year ago, I started a podcast for intermediate learners because I couldn't find anything interesting to share with my students (I'm a French teacher). I use it to talk about various topics from psychology to economy or culture. It's not a method but rather a complement to spend more time with the language (I'm a big fan of Krashen's theory on 2nd language acquisition).
You can also find the transcript for each episode on my website (you need to register as a member to access it but it's completely free).
I'm sharing it with you to see if you find it helpful/relevant and to get your recommendations about how I could improve it.
I hope you'll enjoy it!
I love your podcasts Hugo, such interesting content. I have been listening to you for some time now and have recommended you here. The only thing I could suggest is maybe a few shorter ones for people just signing up who are daunted by spoken french. I tended to get lost half way at the beginning - but now you have changed your site so listeners can pause without having to scroll up, it is a lot easier. Thankyou so much.
Thank you Lesley! I believe it's important to have something long enough to immerse yourself into the language, but you're right, it might be daunting for some people at the beginning. I'm gonna think about a shorter version.
Thanks very much for providing such a great resource (and free to boot). I have been looking for some podcasts at the advanced beginner/early intermediate level with transcripts and this fits the bill perfectly!
I must say that this podcasts are very useful and provide great and interesting information. I was looking to something like this ,something for my level and even a little more advanced to push my self , because a want to improve my listening and comprehension skills in french. Thank you very much.
Thanks! I just listened to the first podcast and followed along with the transcript. I didn't understand every word but I understood 80% of it! I appreciate your hard work on this educational podcast!
Thank you so much for this! I'm at a point right now where I feel confident enough to immerse myself in some easy french. But the cool stuff is still too complicated and I just can't handle another hour of le petit ours brun on YT! Your podcast is just the right speed, difficulty and content. Oh, and besides: I love podcasts!
Merci Sisel ! Yes, le petit ours brun can quickly become a real bore, especially when you're more than 3 y.o haha
Lovely podcast! The content is simultaneously challenging, interesting, and encouraging.
Alors, on commence !
- 10:49 La deuxième hypothèse, c’est l’hypothèse...
- 13:24 Maintenant la troisième....
- 15:24 Maintenant la quatrième hypothèse
- 18:47 Et pour finir, la dernière hypothèse
Again, thank you!
(EDIT: My apologies, I should have mentioned that what I'm suggesting is a refinement of the "haut de page, 5 minutes, ..." status bar you have on the right side of the screen. I found it a little challenging to re-map the text and audio that way.)
I really enjoyed your podcast. I listened and understood about 80%of what I heard I was very surprised and will continue to follow you Thank you very much
Hi Hugo I have just started to listen to your podcasts and am finding them very helpful. I live in S W France ,but am British, I find it difficult to find suitable Intermediate level material. I try to listen to the TF1 news, but this is difficult if I am away from home , so the podcasts are perfect. I have recommended them to friends in a similar situation. Sorry I couldn't work out how to leave a message on your website, keep up the good work
