Inappropriate Ads

Some of the ads in Duolingo are inappropriate, misleading and possibly illegal.

Following the advice below, I have sent screenshots to

This type of ad should not appear on an app used by children.

Oh my that's terrible. I would report it immediately (if this is real and you aren't bluffing that is)

I doubt reporting will do much, since the ads are run by Google, not Duolingo. This problem has occurred before. google ads are based on users search history btw

I would also edit your post, since little kids will click on this most likely

Thanks, I have done as you suggest and reported it. I only had to do 3 more lessons before it came up again! Have a Lingot!

No, they are not. I gave a reply to Chris about a similar issue.

The ads are linked to Google's tracking system.

They disappear in browsers equipped with Privacy Badger.

April 21, 2018 I hope this helps you :) I had the same issue when ads first came out. I came to understand that the ads are based on google searches (or something like that). I was confused until I realized that I am not the only one using my computer. I was relieved to find out that not all people on Duolingo were getting these offensive ads and that I was able to get rid of them. I have not seen them again. Yay!

I find some of the ads to be entertaining and informative. Good luck my friend :)

So, on Duolingo Plus, you can get rid of the adds. But you have to pay. I'm so sorry this happened!
