The use of 了(le).

Hi everyone,

I am confused about the use of 了(le) and when and when not to use it. Could someone please explain this to me? Thank you!

Here's what my dictionary says: As a participle -It indicates a past event -It indicates a completed action -It indicates a change of situation or state -Used with bu 不 to mean "no longer, not anymore" -used with buyao 不要 or bie 别 means to stop someone from doing something. The same character is also used for liao - a verb - meaning to finish, or end - after de 得 or bu 不 it indicates the possibility or impossibility of accomplishing or finishing something.
Hope this helps.
