Gutted! i spent all week working hard and finally today I gained 2 crowns. Can't find them anywhere... they were awarded and then taken away... Why? Has this happened to anyone else?

Yes! It just happened to me! I logged in and watched my crown count change from 90 to 89.

Hi everyone, thanks for the report!

Yesterday, we did a fix for our Spanish tree that's being alpha tested. A bug lead to some skills being "twins", meaning getting progress for one led to getting progress in another. Some of these skills include People, School, Shopping, Travel, and Family skills in that new tree. Learners that alpha tested this course may see a crown drop because the skills we incorrectly marked as completed before (due to completing its "twin") are no longer completed. We're sorry about this bug, but hopefully will be beneficial to learn the content in those skills that were incorrectly marked as completed before.

Unfortunately, the "People" skill in the non-alpha tested tree was erroneously affected. We have since fixed that and hope it is fixed for everyone now!

yes! 4 days ago my Spanish Crown level was 150 and now I've just noticed it's dropped today to 145. I thought one of the big ideas of the crown levels is that once you earnt them you had them and they didn't degrade. Any ideas what's going on? Also I posted about this about 3 hours ago [ I hadnt seen your post at the time] and it looks like my post has disappeared/been deleted...why would that happen?

I don't mind the new crown topic categories; however, I really miss the crowns that focus on grammatical categories. For example, I have been working on mastering the "Object Pronouns" crown. Direct and indirect object practice has been very helpful, but now that crown has been deleted. In this new tree, it appears that a lot of the crowns that focused on various grammatical topics are gone.

Suggestion: Keep the new crowns, but add back the grammatically oriented crowns!

¬°Gracias!

Hi, this is the Spanish forum, for getting help with Spanish grammar, vocabulary, resources, etc. Could you please edit your original post and use the drop-down list at top left to change the topic from "Spanish" to "Troubleshooting"? That way it won't clutter up the Spanish forum, and the answers you get might help others who look in Troubleshooting for information on how Duolingo works.

I have two trees going. Yesterday on one, I had 183 crowns and this morning I have 150. Not only that but two levels that I had maxed out to level 5 are now not even shown. All the colors have changed. One thing I don't like is that I haven't found any criteria in Duolingo so that i can understand what a crown means, what's the maximum. I don't think my fluency dropped by 1/6th overnight and the other tree still shows that I have 177 crowns. I don't like that the exercises have gotten easier. It's like i must add "2 + 2 = 4" 40 times to max out one subject. I typically make only one error per 20 questions and it is always I didn't hear it right, spelling, or a typo. I recommend to Duolingo that you put some explanation and explanation of criteria into the program rather than just having arbitrary changes.
