(European) Portuguese learning resources

I am learning European Portuguese, but the internet has more resources and sites about Brazilian Portuguese. It's hard to find the sources about EU Portuguese, but to save you effort, I have made a list of the most useful sites, channels and blogs about/with European Portuguese (and a few with Brazilian Portuguese)

Everything *

Sonia has short grammar explanations, exercises, proverbs and slang. It's mostly Brazilian Portuguese, but don't worry about it too much. (Except when you use the slang and proverb section)

Nice! I appreciate this. Bookmarked and followed.

But no Euro Portuguese list would be complete without the blog of a former course contributor for the Portuguese program here at Duo and one who helped make it more friendly to those of us wanting the Euro version:

The EP Experience:

It really is a treasure.

Here is his version of, "The List":

This one is good too:

I will try to go through my links later for more that you can add to yours so we can have them all in one place. There are actually several Youtube resources now that were not there when I was starting (now I do not have the time for them all).

April 22, 2018

Muito obrigado Scutigera! I will add them too:)

April 22, 2018

Hey Scutigera, are you still following this thread?

Do you use Discord by any chance? I would like to practice Portuguese with you there! A big surprise is waiting too!

If you are interested, drop me a line.

Considering how scarce European Portuguese learning resources are, that's a pretty good list Jules.

Correio da Manhã is a trashy newspaper though. If you want to read good online newspapers try these instead:

Thanks! I will add them.

Are you Portuguese? Can you give any good speech and music radio stations (that play a lot of Portuguese language music)? Also the best TV news bulletin, the shorter the better. Thanks.

April 26, 2018

Radio stations (more words):

Antena 1: (the public broadcaster)

Radio stations (more music):

Rádio Comercial:

TV Stations news bulletins:

SIC Noticias: (click on individual news pieces)

RTP 3: (live stream)

Not sure if you'll be able to access all these on your location but that's a start.

PS: there was a change on how links behave here on the forums so I guess you'll have to copy/paste the links into your browser.

Don't forget Memrise! They have a seven part course in EP that would take you to A2 if you practicing speaking while you learn.

April 22, 2018

How could I indeed forget Memrise! Thanks for the reminder!

April 22, 2018

Great post, Jules! I will look into it. Thank you.

Thank you so, so much, the list is amazing!

May 14, 2018

This is a great list of resources that will give me loads to explore for some time to come! Having a member in my extended family who grew up in the US speaking continental Portuguese, I was originally interested in that variety, but with so many resources being for Brazilian Portuguese, I ended up using Duo for BP. But now I would like to learn more about continental Portuguese. Muito obrigado, Jules.

October 28, 2018
