"Il y a ton livre et le mien"

Answer says "There is your book and mine". To me that sounds as if you and I are sharing one book. Shouldn't it be "There are your book and mine"?

How does this sentence sound in French? Aren't there one of your book and one of my book?

I have always seen it as there are two books, but I may be wrong.

Je pense comme ├ža aussi! Pourquoi il a dit "there is" pas "there are"???
