Please! Give me something useful!

The humor is nice. Really. I appreciate these absurd ideas.

But while I hear about flying kindergarten teachers and walking trees, I rarely find a phrase that is useful in an every day situation.

"I rarely find a phrase that is useful in an every day situation."

Obviously you've never been to Budapest, where flying kindergarten teachers and famous Japanese engineers arriving on top of trees between buses in front of international airports are the talk of the town!

I think phrases like that stimulate the linguistic creativity in your own mind. It helps you to see the structure of the language rather than the rigid phrases. But maybe you just want to book a hotel etc. in which case I understand the quandary.

book a hotel, order some food, go shopping, find my way to a museum, talk with people about their lives - but these things are not included. Just that obsession about the location of things and kindergarten teacher

I have always liked Chompski's: "Colorless green ideas sleep furiously." When I can say that in Hungarian, I will know that I have learned a new language! Ha Ha Ha
