Practice = crowns?
It used to be that practicing skills with the "practice" button would turn skills back to gold without me having to manually select what to practice. Is there any hopes that the practice button will level up to new crowns or will that always be manual selection?
To those in this thread who hate crowns: The strength still is hiding somewhere in the code. On duolingo.eu/(yourusername/practice (which is not official, but in contact to the creators of Duo), you can see how strong your skills are (just like before crowns) and you can also practice them from there (it will open a link back to Duo, and practice words from that specific skill).
I honestly don't know, but I liked the version with the practice button that turns all the skills back to gold better than this new updated version.
I think maybe my original post was confusing. I love the crown system and this it's more educationally sound than the prior system. I don't like that "practicing" doesn't give me credit to gain new crowns. Especially because the practice button pulls lessons from the units just as I would see if I choose to build a skill manually.
I have been using duoling.eu and it's very helpful, but that's sometimes hard to manage on a mobile device.
Yes, there is hope. Duolingo staff have made it pretty clear connecting the SRS and crowns systems is high on the priority list.
Whether or not it's specifically via the practice button, who knows.
I hope Crowns≠Levels.
Practice should unlock new sentences except the ones on higher levels (with new grammar points), thus we always practice what we've learned. The repetition of the crown system makes me think that “Crowns=Levels” is bad, so I want the old system back. If there are new grammar points, there should be notification for new separate lessons.
Can someone tell me how to switch out of crowns? I did it once but forgot how, fiery cat where are you? Help please, I hate this crowns and have stopped using duo until it is fixed.
