An option to avoid typing; only word selection

In my previous version of the applications, I needed to select only some words to make a sentence. Unfortunately, the latest update reversed the situation and I need to again type everything.

Is there an option in the website or the application to use only word selection?

On the website, for translation and I believe for listening exercises, there is a somewhat hard to see icon of either a typewriter or blocks for words. That toggles you back and forth between using the word bank and typing.

You can't switch to the blocks when you are doing listening exercises. That would be a bit too simple, I guess.

I really love the funtion of switching between blocks and typing. I usually start with blocks on a new skill and then switch to typing to increase the difficulty.

In "dutch to english" lessons I often stay with the blocks because I'm not an English native speaker and don't want to get the lessons wrong because I made an English mistake.

I also like to stay with the blocks. But how? The app always brings the writing.

I can only speak for the Spanish and Dutch courses on the Duolingo website, but I've noticed that for most of the lessons you get a mix of a sentences where some of the answers need to be typed, others only require you to choose words from a word bank. As far as I know, there is not an option to not have to type at all. I think that's the same for the mobile app(lication), although I don't use it anymore.

I have always used the app. A long time ago the exercises were a combination of typing and word selecting. After a recent update of the app, all the exercises were word selection, which I loved it. After the last update of the app, the exercises are changed again and they consist of only typing. I thought that it might be an option to make them only as word selection. But it seems there is not any.

I just had a look at my mobile version of duolingo (I usually only use the browser-version) and I still have blocks. So this might be a new A/B test. Maybe they are working on adding this switch - button in the mobile app, too?
