French level 25 enfin.

Well I finally have made it after 14 months. There has been a lot of repetition but that's good because it does drum it in. I raise my hat to Duolingo for making these excellent courses for free, thank you. For those still down the ladder just keep at it because it is very worthwhile. Good luck to you all.

Merci Bien, mdr/lol. You made "Thank you kindly/well" out of part of my name by changing it. Clever!

I had reached at level 25 in French some months ago. But Duolingo devaluated my crown amount to an lower level than I was thinking I was, 70% fluency! So I have to do Basics1 again to make it gold again. The real end in Duolingo comes when the tree is all gold and more, to do general practice exercises from all this tree, I think. But it is up to each one of us when he/she feels having mastered a Duolingo language. If you like, you can stop here of course. Congratulations! :)

Thank you Sterigi3. I agree I was at 68% but will now have a lot of repetition to make all gold again. So as you say just be selective.

Oh That's wonderful! I am hitting a wall right now. I just couldn't go over Subjunctive Present. I am not strong with verb tense either. If you have any encouraging suggestions will you share please!

      https://www.duolingo.com/profile/david190612

Hi Rhinobug, I had the same problem half way though with the subjunctive so you have my sympathy. The only way is to persist with it and eventually it will sink in. Good luck.

Thank you for the encouragement! You said you've mastered in 14 months, so I will give myself at least two years! Au fait, quel est votre prochain plan? Est-ce que vous étudiez autre que le français?

      https://www.duolingo.com/profile/david190612

I will continue with Duo in french as the new crown system makes one go back over things which one thinks one knows but obviously not perfectly as I still get it wrong sometimes. So forever onward. It is also worthwhile doing the course in english because you are having to answer the questions in french. Try it.!

C'est merveilleux! Je suis dans une période difficile mais je continue à apprendre.

Congratulations on your accomplishment again and looking forward to hearing about your progress on reverse tree!

      https://www.duolingo.com/profile/david190612

I have decided to go back on the spanish course as well as the reverse tree in french.

Congratulations! :-) How much XP is needed to reach 25?

      https://www.duolingo.com/profile/david190612

Hi Caroline, It appears seem to be around the 30,000 xp mark.so please do not let that put you off. Happy travels through France.

      t'apprend le français

I agree with what David said - my Italian 25 came up at 30k using the previous 'crownless' version. It will be interesting to see how many points it takes me to get to French 25 using the 'crown' version of DL.

Does level 25 in a language make you pretty much fluent if you take the time to review what you learned?

      https://www.duolingo.com/profile/david190612

Hello Pat, I would say no to being fluent. Duo gives a very good grounding in spelling, grammar and solid basics of a language but it cannot possibly get you to being fluent in a limited course. I will say though that it is to be thoroughly recommended as a means to putting one well towards that goal. Good luck with your multi courses but maybe concentrate on only a few at a time
