Shouldn't "Zeitschrift" translate as "magazine" rather than "newspaper"?

Magazine is now the primary answer. (November 2021)

I translated Abschnitt as "excerpt." Is this appropriate?

Abschnitt vs Rubrik?

Why is this "that newspaper"? Shouldn't it be "the newspaper" (or magazine)?

@check2012 : Both are correct. As you advance in the German tree you will encounter more examples with "that".

Then the translation could just as well be "THAT section is from THE magazine", yes?

Perplexed here.

In https://forum.duolingo.com/comment/20159360, the phrase "The first section of this newspaper is about politics" translates to "Die erste Rubrik von dieser Zeitung ist über Politik."

Why the difference in Rubrik and Abschnitt

Could, in this sentence, Abschnitt be translated as 'piece'? It is quite natural in Canadian English to refer to a piece in the paper. And 'piece' is not far from the result of 'schneiden'.
