"If he were to eat food, he would go to school"
Translation:Angekula chakula angeenda shule
The difference between kwenda shule and kwenda shuleni is a subtle one but we have an analogous difference in English.
(1) I'm going to the/a school. [I'm merely saying that the school is my destination. I may be a teacher, I may be a parent, a teacher, a student, a postal worker, someone going to vote and the voting station is at the school, etc.]
(2) I'm going to school. [I am a student of the school and I am going there for classes.]
As far as I know, these in Swahili are:
(1) (Ni)na(kw)enda shuleni [The school is my destination. No purpose is stated.]
(2) (Ni)na(kw)enda shule [I am a student of the school and I am going there for study.]
