Dative verb with accusative case??

[deactivated user]

The dative verbs (such as antworten, helfen and danken) should trigger the dative case in the same way that accusative prepositions trigger the accusative. But what if I wanted to say something like "I answer without you"??? Would it be "Ich antworte ohne dich" or "Ich antworte ohne dir"? And, either way, why???

In the case of without you would always need the accusative. Some prepositions demand the usage of the dative and others the accusative. And some of them change the cases depending on the event you want to say. But using "without" always triggers the accusative.
