Did you do a practice test?

Because maybe you worked on the skill before you unlocked it and maybe it was sort of "pre-worked on". This might not be the case, but it might. =)

That has not ever happened to me :/ I would probably submit a bug report.

It happened to me on two skills. Then a few weeks later Duolingo realised it had credited some skills wrongly (not just to me but to loads of people) and they did an update and wiped them back down a level and knocked off two crowns from my total. they sent an email and made announcement but i cant find them, may be it is something similar

Found the email now. This is what it said " Some of you may have noticed that some crowns dropped during recent days. This is due to a fix we did for an issue that caused skills to be incorrectly marked as completed before. We apologize for this inconvenience and wanted to let you know that the issue is now resolved.

Again, many thanks for all your do. Please keep the feedback coming!

This used to happen a lot on the previous tree. People said it was probably because we used the forms of "to be" so much before we got to the skill that they just gave us credit for it.
