App Glitch - wrong incorrect prompt.
I have been taking lessons via this app for the past few days, but in the last two days, I have been dealing with this annoying glitch costing me lives.
The word I learned for newspaper in Dutch is "krant" in the lessons so far. When asked to translate, for instance, "The men read the newspaper" - I translate it to "De mannen lezen de krant," however, it returns as incorrect stating that I used "dagblad," when I clearly didn't. I do flag it and select "it was the correct answer"
Anyone dealt with that same problem or anything similar?
Sorry about that. I don't play the app with hearts and lives, but I can understand it's frustrating. It looks like you spelled the Dutch sentence correctly. Sometimes a tiny little spelling mistake will make Duolingo give you an alternative "correct" answer. Could it be that this sentence was part of the simple past tense skill? "The men read the newspaper" can be either present tense or past tense in English, but if in the past tense the Dutch translation would be "De mannen lazen de krant." That still doesn't explain why it would tell you that you used "dagblad." By the way, that is a correct alternative word for krant, and it means a daily newspaper.

A popular workaround to avoid the "Health" feature
Use Duolingo's web version on your phone/tablet (www.duolingo.com), because it .......
does not have the "Health" system and gems
will work in the newest version of the Chrome or Firefox browser on your phone or tablet, if you have rather good Wifi (or LTE/4G with an Internet bundle)
For the best typing experience:
- set the browser to mobile mode
- use the phone in portrait mode
My guess is that you answered "het krant", which gets corrected to "het dagblad", instead of the correct "de krant". Because Duolingo is a little bit dumb. This is a common complaint.
