What do you want to invest in? and What do you want to invest? are two very different English sentences. The Chinese answer here looks a lot to me like it is the Chinese equivalent of the latter, not the former. Can anyone confirm or otherwise? I'd love to know.

Exactly. What I want to invest is £5: what I want to invest in is Golden Boy running in the 2:30 at Ascot.

Is 你想投什么投资 incorrect?

No, but generally 你想投资什么?is used.
