New Practice System Stuck On Repeat
This is the first time i've noticed this, but is there really no longer a way to practice lessons anymore until you've repeated the entire course? I used to be able to go into individual lessons to practice - the ones i finished but want/need to review - but i see that's no longer an option. Now that i've finished the course and the new levels have been added, i'm no longer capable of practicing that lesson until EVERY single one in all 5 levels is completed - basically it treats completed courses as 100% incomplete.... are you serious? This is a horrible change and i'm incredibly frustrated with it. Most of these skills take hours to complete, are we honestly expected to go through all of that again - which would take at least a year or two in my case - to be able to go back and practice a specific lesson?
The practice feature on the right used to be helpful, mixing up the skills, lessons and questions, but unfortunately that's lost too. For the past three days it has been giving me the same skill/questions over and over again and i'm sick of it. i want to be able to practice something else - let alone something of my choice - instead of being given the same questions each time.
This is flawed and frustrating. Does the practice button no longer change skills/questions until you get 100% accuracy? Sorry i'm not perfected and miss a question on timed practice... i can't tolerate it anymore and i'm not learning or improving my skills. Are any others experiencing this pain? This butthurt is strong.
WOW! What is this, how did you find it, and where has it been all my life? xD i can't find anything on the site that leads me there, but yes! This is exactly what i needed <3 Thank you
Hah! You're most welcome, glad I was able to help you.
I just found it when I was going through the forums myself, I've found it really helpful, as I'm sure you will!
Still stuck. I could move on, but it's irritating to get the endless repetitions of simple, unedifying sentences until I make the choice to quit---when I used to be able to see how the lesson was progressing, and go back to redo what I didn't fully understand. Just an unbelievaby unhelpful waste of time.
Maybe, there is some hope.
Recently, Duolingo's staff have started a so-called A/B test to re-introduce one of the other excellent features of the former teaching method
I hope, Duolingo's staff will also listen to the lots of users who want to use the other excellent features of the former teaching method, such as .....
the overview of the words used in each lesson of a skill instead of the "black box" of the current version of the "crown" method
the possibility to repeat each lesson of each skill as many times as you need
the guidence of the "skill decay" of the former "Spaced repetition method".
Fortunately, the designer of www.duome.eu gives still the opportunity to use the "skill decay" in the unofficial progress page www.duome.eu/username/progress
Otherwise a lot of users would have quitted Duolingo instead of waiting for improvements in this version of the "crown method"
After all, Duolingo claims in its advertising texts:
Everyone learns in different ways. For the first time in history, we can analyze how millions of people learn at once to create the most effective educational system possible and tailor it to each student.
Our ultimate goal is to give everyone access to a private tutor experience through technology.
If other people are experiencing it, the more people who report the bug will help lead to an actual fix, instead of a workaround.
I don't know how that alternative website works. I am unfamiliar with it.
YES. Since they changed everything, I have been going around & around for weeks on one ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ lesson. Is it a joke? It says level 4---No idea what that means. And it says 10/30. If there are thirty segments to this lesson, why don't they show them, as they used to? The same sentences are repeated every day. If there's an area I'm having trouble with (which they wouldn't know, as I struggled with the phone app, produce a lot of typos, and--as this is about my 15th trip through the entire course--am trying to do it as unthinkingly & automatically as possible, because for years I studiously & slowly worked through what was expected of me, got almost all the answers right almost all the time: and felt like I had nothing under my belt at the end)--it isn't possible to tell what that is; everything rotates through again & again with little or no change. Who decided that keeping the contents invisible would serve any purpose at all? I see answers below--I will check them out. And thanks to all on the forum.
