Ive been having the same issue. I had it on another amazon fire that I broke so I'm wondering if that's the issue. Did you use a different device to start your Duolingo account? I'm going to login on the website to see if it'll fix the issue... I hope so I'll tell you if it does.

Same problem. I am able to login with other devices, but not with my Kindle Fire. I have tried reinstalling the Duolingo app, but that did not resolve the problem.

I've followed the instructions given here - it downloads and I get past pressing the 'install' button then it says 'not installed'! Very frustrating as my daughter is having to borrow my tablet on a different system.

Same issue, not able to login

June 21, 2018

They don't support that version anymore. You'll have to use the website or install a version of Duolingo from Google Play.

June 22, 2018

Is this something from some official source, or something you're assuming because it isn't there? If it's from an official source can you provide a link to it?

In the English Duolingo Help Center:

I have seen the same workarounds in a lot of other discussions about the Kindle/Fire in Duolingo during the last few weeks.

I have tried to install Duolingo on Kindle again but not able to select Kindle as location

June 22, 2018

I had a chess game installed on an older Kindle that I can't select the newer Kindle as a location for. Is that the kind of thing you mean?

DuoLingo still works (on my parent account but not the children's accounts) on the older Kindle but it has completely disappeared from the, "My Apps (or whatever it is)," on Amazon.

I'd like to know why it's been discontinued on the Kindle, if that is the official position on it.

I have yet to see any kind of answer from anyone who actually works for DuoLingo. Are they even reading any of this?

I specifically bought my Fire so I could Duolingo. I had been working on a half dozen languages. I started spending all my free time on writing my novel, and now wanted to get back into Duolingo. This discovery makes me feel like I've been cheated somehow.

I am having the same problem, not being able to log on with the Kindle anymore. I kept getting a new password, but that did not work either. I think it has something with the new changes in duolingo.

May 26, 2018

Same problem the Duolingo as downloaded from the Amazon store does not allow login. Keeps asking over and over again.

May 28, 2018

Seems to be no longer supported on Fire Tablet. I had the same problem, and finally Uninstalled from Device and from Cloud, and when I went to install from App Store it's not there.

June 18, 2018

Thanks for your reply.
It would be just charming if we could get some kind of official response on this. Is it gone forever? If so, why? Tons of people use it on their Fire. So weird...

About not finding Duolingo from Amazon app store: I had this same issue when I just had a new Amazon Fire (Fire 10, 5th Gen) and wanted to download the Duo app version. It was no longer in the app store. But when I went directly to the Amazon website and searched for Duolingo, it was there! Very weird. Needless to say, I was then able to download it on my Fire.

sigh... Unfortunately no such luck... Looks like I'll need to either message customer support or delete my profile and remake it idk. I used Facebook to login out of curiosity did you do the same?

May 23, 2018

What version number does your Duolingo App have on your Kindle fire?

May 28, 2018

3.83.3 from I told you it had to be sideloaded. Not using the one from Amazon store as it was unworkable. As for the Amazon one it was what ever the latest the store had.

May 29, 2018

That's nice, except you can't do that for children's accounts on the Kindle. Sideloading (at least, the last time I tried it) only works on an adult account even if you allow the web site you need to get the apk from.

June 7, 2018

Well, my son has the kid's Kindle with the blue shell and I have it sideloaded on his. In fact this is his account.

June 7, 2018

I didn't say a kid's Kindle with the kid as the primary profile. I wouldn't know about those, really.

I have four Kindle Fire 7s. Three are the latest version, one is the previous version. I don't know how those kid's version Kindles work but on these you can have two adult profiles and at least four children's profiles. Yes, you can sideload apps on the adult profiles. Not the kids' profiles.

June 8, 2018

Did you try this method? You enable web on the child fee time profile, then you add web content. They’ll show up in the web section on the child profile.

how do you "side load" an app from google play? I could never get google play to recognize the kindle as a device

September 5, 2018

I am having the same problems on a replacement Kindle Fire 7:

With the DuoLingo app downloaded from the Amazon App Store I (and my four children) cannot log in successfully.
We tap, "I ALREADY HAVE AN ACCOUNT," which takes us to the login screen.
Entering the correct username and PW looks (briefly) like it is going to work: We get a white screen with a rotating, "loading," animation in the center and the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the upper left corner of the screen. This lasts for about 2-3 seconds and returns us to the initial, "duolingo: Free language education for the world: GET STARTED: I ALREADY HAVE AN ACCOUNT," screen.

The DuoLIngo app still works on our older Fire 7 device currently. With the exception that the app 'disappeared' from my youngest child's account in the middle of him using it today. It still exists on the other three child accounts and on my account, BUT it does not show up in the list of apps on the device in the "Profiles & Family Library| Manage this child's Free Time experience|Add Content|Share Content|Add Apps" list on either the older or the newer Kindle Fire 7 device.

So I checked on Amazon under My Apps for my account and found the listing for DuoLingo: Learn languages Free. But clicking this takes me to Amazon's 404 message: Sorry we couldn't find that page here's a picture of a charming dog (Strangely, I've tried it several times and it's always a black lab...), instead.

When I searched for, "duolingo", on Amazon the only thing that showed up with "duolingo" in the title was quite a few of these:
They all claim to be selling some kind of, "Access Card." Is this actually some kind of legitimate, "DuoLingo Approved," product? There was no description shown for what was or why I would want to purchase it. This looks suspiciously scamm-ish to my rather skeptical mind.

If you need further information I am more than willing to provide anything I can.

Edit: I don't know if the versions correspond between the Amazon App store version and the version available from, but the installed version on both versions of my Kindle Fire 7s shows 3.9.0 and the version on uptodown is 3.85.2

I have not tried loading the version from uptodown on the newer Fire 7 device.
