Type in Japanese Lessons (Mobile App Version)

Did duolingo take this out? I'm only seeing the "match the word bank" and "type in English" for Japanese lessons now. Or is there a way to toggle this on/off?

I only use mobile version because I like to practice on my commute to work. One day, duolingo asked me to add the Japanese keyboard to begin typing in Japanese for lessons. It was a little challenging navigating the new keyboard but it helped my Japanese learning curve exponentially. I really enjoyed it. Now, I haven't seen the "type in Japanese" exercise in over 2 weeks.

Use the Duolingo mobile website instead of the app and you will be able to type your answers to the questions that allow for it.

i don't know about the mobile app version since i only use do on my laptop. in the webversion you can toggle between "word bank" and typing. below the word bank there is a grey button with "use keyboard" or something like that. i don't know if the mobile version has it though.

I didn't happen to be using the app during the period when people were mentioning typing a few weeks ago. However, I got my first-ever type in Japanese exercise a couple hours ago, only a single one though.

EDIT: Since it was this sentence it looks like it might have been a unique glitch :(

I would really, really appreciate a fix for this. I was just starting to like Crowns when they pulled this out for some reason, basically making the mobile app useless for higher level crowns (since I don't really see the point if there are no typing exercises, would rather just do it all on desktop. This is severely limiting my use of Duolingo atm, since I don't always have access to my desktop.)

You can do the translation for yourself before looking down at the word boxes. Granted, this method doesn't yield the increased familiarity with kanji one might get via typing.
