what the diference about british and american accent?
the first time i learn english language, i can't deference between british and american accent. so i want to discuss with you. what do you think about that?
It’s difficult to make clear distinctions between US and UK accents, since they're two big countries with various accents, sama kayak Indonesia. A Texan and a New Yorker are both Americans, but have very different accents. People in London and Glasgow may sound differently as well, even though both are British. Comparisonnya kayak di Indonesia orang Jawa, Sunda, Betawi beda-beda accentnya padahal sama-sama orang Indonesia.
However, we can clearly generalise. Americans don't miss any "r" sounds in any word, while the British tend to miss "r" sounds everywhere unless it's the first letter of the word. They also have different preferences in vocabulary, like vacation and holiday, fries and chips, movies and cinema, soccer and football, I'd say it's almost like how Indonesians and Malaysians use similar words but we can tell they're different from each other. (This is just my opinion of course.)
Hope this can help you make a clear distinction between the two. :D
They are almost the same, but there are differences on some words (e.g. colour vs. color, continuous vs. continous,...) and some different word usage.
