I have really enjoyed the French Stories. They really seemed to help with both listening and reading comprehension, and I'm very glad they exist. I also feel like I'm learning a bunch of new words through Stories. What is a bit of a bummer is that the vocabulary from Stories does not seem tied to the overall Words feature. I know Stories are in Labs still, but I just wanted to note down that I'd really love to see Stories more tightly connected with Words.
Thanks for making a great feature like this, Duolingo!
I feel like I'm learning more actual conversational French, like "mec" and "truc," from the stories.
I agree. I feel like the lab stories use more everyday "street French", whereas what we learn in the modules are very much textbook-oriented.
I have really enjoyed the French stories and I appreciate all the work you have put into them. It's a much more interesting way to learn than through grammar exercises. Just one thing - I find the characters and situations tediously old-fashioned. Too often we have a misunderstanding between straight couples and groan -it's usually the stay-at-home wife while wage-earning husband is out in the world. There is so much more variety out there and especially in France and the French diaspora.
