dutch tree completed!
Three things. 1. It has been really fun. 2. Post recent change it would be great to be able to type out answers even with the word bank displayed, it is ridiculous to have to use a mouse. Way too much clicky clicky. 3. Removing the vocabulary after the recent update was a huge mistake. It slowed me down considerably. I liked the old way where I could write out new words ahead of time in my notebook and translate as I encountered them. Much more efficient.
Bedankt duo de uil
Congratulations! I was interested in this course, but I think that the audios have poor quality, what is your opinion?
I have always felt like this would just be the start. When I listen to the pimsleur course or podcasts I find it difficult to follow some times.
Congratulations! It's my goal to finish the Dutch tree too, I don't think I'm even half way through yet but I'll get there eventually, I hope!
About 2: There should be a button at the bottom of the screen that let's you change between wordbank and typing (labelled "Use keyboard" or similar).
right but it would be nice to have the word bank visible and still be able to type.
Congratulations ! ;) How long did it take ? your 166 days streak ?
I was wondering how much Dutch differ from German ...is it easier , with less complicated grammar ? If someone knows...
Grammar is much less complicated: no cases, only two genders and only two forms of adjectives. Tricky parts include word order (similar to German, but not completely) and the word 'er' (which is untranslatable and can totally mess up the word order). Verb tenses are very similar to German. Vocabulary is somewhere between German and their English cognates.
Thank you both for your answers and explanation. I have studied German and English so Dutch shouldn't be too hard for me , maybe one day...;)
Yes, Dutch Grammar is mostly easier than German grammar. The vocabulary is highly similar.
Congratulations!! Have you thought about what you're going to do next with the language? Maybe read some books? Watch some TV? Are you planning on visiting the Netherlands?
I try to go the the Netherlands annually. I switched fb to be in Dutch, watch NOS Jeugdjournal daily, look at volkskrant.nl, and watch Dutch TV when I can find it. I plan to get a bunch of DVDs this next trip to Amsterdam later this summer. I would like to try an intensive course (week or two) in NL sometime in the next year.
