Here is a master list of all of the FREE Japanese learning resources online.

Hey guys,

I put together what I believe is a comprehensive list of all of the free online resources to learn Japenese (DUO is right at the top of course), including video, audio, apps, courses, dictionaries, websites, textbooks ... you name it. The complete list is here: http://gratisglobal.com/learn-japanese-free/

If I missed anything at all, please let me know so I can add it. My criteria are that the resource must be free, useful and high quality. I do include apps and programs with the "freemium model" as long as the free offering is substantial enough.

Hope this is helpful. Susie

WaniKani is a great site for kanji and vocab. You have to know hiragana first so Duo is great with that.

Thanks for the suggestion. I don't think it is free though:(

The first three levels are available for free, but after that it requires a subscription.

So, no ... not a free resource.

Thanks, just curious, do the first three levels cover a lot?

Yes. I've been using it for a month and I still have not hit level 3. It starts you out on radicals which is boring, then you learn kanji, then you move to vocab + kanji. I personally like it a lot.

EPIC list. ありがとうございました!

Btw, I saw "Remembering the kana" on this list... and believe me, is a good book, you really learn kana by heart. For those who have already mastered the kana, you can search "Remembering the kanji", also of James Heisig.

It has two parts (two books), one for the meaning of kanjis, and the other for pronunciation. It makes it really easier, I learned my first 50 kanjis from this book long ago and i didn't even had any knowledge of japanese at that time lol
