Duo giveth and Duo taketh away

Duo took my golden Dutch owl by adding a zillion lessons, so it took me some time to get my owl back. Duo took away my achievement of having all lessons golden, no possibility to regain that one, and now they took my golden Spanish owl by adding 50 odd lessons and no way to shortcut those. IMO you should keep your achievements and your owls when lessons are added. I want justice! ( :) )

Thanks for pointing this out, HuibRenes! There has now been a new addition to the FAQ explaining why the Crown levels went down, as we could see why this causes confusion. Your suggestions have been noted as well!

Thank you for noticing but you missed the point. Duo took the badge I owned for keeping the tree golden. That one took me a lot of efford to win and it is gone. Duo could have removed the badge with all the people that did not earn them, but he chose to delete all. That was not helpful Duo!

Despite Duolingo promissed "Once you earn a crown, you get to keep it!" in
https://support.duolingo.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002253131-Crown-level-decay-and-spaced-repetition,
Duolingo's staff is still using the "skill decay procedure for the new version of the language tree" of the teaching method before the "crowns" update.

It also happened to the users of the new version of the French tree and in all the other updated trees of the language courses after the "crowns" update!

You might submit a bug report via
https://support.duolingo.com/hc/en-us/articles/204728264-How-do-I-report-a-bug-

The more people are complaining, the greater the change Duolingo's staff is going to solve this issue.

In the mean time you are still able to keep your skills gold from crown level 1 by using your unofficial but very useful progress page in
https://www.duome.eu/HuibRenes/progress
Just
- log in the tree that you like to keep gold
- open a new tab and go to https://www.duome.eu/HuibRenes/progress
- click on the dumbbell that belongs to each individual skill that has decayed to 75% or lower.

Edit:
Wooow,
HelpfulDuo has changed the "help text" in a "helpful text" within a day.
Thanks a lot HelpfulDuo!

Dear Pentaan, I am a user of Duome from its start. You missed the point of my entry. I know how to keep a tree golden. But I had earned a badge and that is deleted. That is where I want justice for, the cold hearted deletion of a hard earned badge.

Hi HuibRenes,

That also happened in the old teaching method before the "Crowns" method.
Then you lost your "golden owl" and now you have lost your "golden owl" and "badge"
For example in:
2017 in German for English speakers"
2018 in Dutch and in French for English speakers.

In the app, Duolingo can only input a maximum of 5 tabs, 1 max for learning, 1 max for learning feature, 1 max for profile, 1 max for special feature, and 1 max for shop. Both Leaderboards and Clubs are "special features", so Duolingo must choose which one at a time, rather than both. Similarly, for some users, Gems is inputted rather than Lingots (Duolingo likes the "Gems" because you can buy gems for real money whereas you can't for lingots). Similarly, Practice and Health are both learning features, so Duolingo of course picked Health (people can pay real money for gems, then health for gems).

Also, if you have "practice and gems" format, you have a Plus option (cost a few bucks a month, NOT one-time).

It doesn't take a Duolingo staff to know that Leaderboards are CONSIDERABLY more lucrative than Clubs. Why? Since 90% of users have health and gems, instead of practice and lingots, when people are "motivated" to repeatedly do lessons (that's right, no more high XP yieldings from tests, thanks Duolingo), they see more ads. For "health and gems" people, they see an ad once per lesson, and they have access to Plus (more lucrative) - Plus removes ads. Ads can be really annoying when Duolingo sometimes mix up the "Go Ad Free" and "X" buttons.

In addition, there is this "health" thing for 90% of people. Whenever you get a problem wrong, you lose a health. When you make FIVE mistakes you lose all health you must practise the boring easy-peasy stuff once for a health. You can also wait for health to refill (8 hours per health bar, total 5 health bars, individual times vary). There is only one other option to keep using Duolingo immediately, and that is paying gems (350 gems for health refill). Because of this, one can easily use up all gems, thus needing to pay real money for a gem refill.

If you were in Duolingo, Inc, which option would YOU want to choose?
