Can someone please tell me what is wrong with this translation: “His aunt, who will be eighty, hears poorly.” It seems to me to be a literal translation and very common in English. I would have thought that “cannot hear well” would have come from the negative verb — “dobře neslyší”.


"...is hard of hearing" or "... is (a bit) deaf" are possibly more common expressions.
