My new Welsh teacher on YouTube, and she's a perfect match with DuoLingo
I have found a wonderful way to augment my DuoLingo-based study of Welsh. Gwyneth Glyn, who seems to be an important performer, has a fairly large number of videos on YouTube in Welsh with texts, first shown in Welsh, then in English. I'm impressed and surprised at how well her videos match up with what we are learning in Welsh. And, she has a beautiful voice! I started with https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCVk5y0ifMA&start_radio=1&list=RDGCVk5y0ifMA.
Wow.... Only listened to that first song so far, but it's gorgeous.
And I liked that I could sit at my desk, LISTEN, and read what I was hearing.
DuoLingo has me in a place where I hear and see the word at the same time, so when I'm struggling to have my little proto-conversations with my husband (who's also just starting Welsh), I am seeing the words in my head. So having the lyrics on screen.... It helps me understand what I'm hearing.
That aside, and without translations, I just love the sound of the poetry in this language... So beautiful...
Thanks for sharing!
