If you're interested in learning to play Skat ("Skat ist das deutscheste aller Kartenspiele") and practicing your German at the same time, there's a very nice tutorial here:

It's long, and will probably take a few days to play through entirely, assuming you break it up into sessions. As you might infer, the pace of the lessons is slow, and begins from the absolute beginning, but it is thorough.

It's also kid-friendly, so you get a lot of Umgangssprache, but nothing coarse. You'll pick up a ton of terms and phrases for card playing, games in general, and Skat in particular.

Have you also seen the famous Loriot Skat sketch? google: Loriot Skatrunde One needs to already understand how to play Skat to see why this sketch is funny. Loriot was a funny German comedian. I also like his 4.5 Minute Egg sketch.

I see there is also by the same person a youtube Skat Lernen channel with recently updated videos.

I have been looking for a long time for understandable Skat tutorials. I am CaliforniaJim at , where one can also play Skat online for free. Vielen Dank.
