English words in spoken Hindi
Hi, I'd like to know why when people are speaking in Hindi, they sometimes use English words.
Same reason we use Hindi words in English, it's easier to take a word for a concept from a language that has that concept, then it is to make a completely new word for said concept.
Fun fact, Yoga and Yoke, the bar tied around an oxen neck so it can plough fields, have the same indo-european-root.
It probably originates from 150 yeas of British colonisation of most of the Indian sub continent.
Also, the English language contains a number of Hindi words such as Bungalow, jhodpurs, char etc from the same period.
