איזה לילה קר
Why do we say קר and not קרה since לילה is a feminine noun?
It is masculine and not feminine. For example, we say לילה טוב (good night) and not לילה טובה. It is true that most words ending with ה are feminine, but not all.
Yes, you are right! In good night we use it as as a masculine noun indeed, so it must be a masculine noun after all. It is so strange though.. Thank you at2004.
Numbers are also the opposite of what they look like, as I understand it. So technically, שלוש is feminine also.
The word לילה is an exception. it is masculine not feminine. other similar exceptions are the words: גרב (a sock), צומת (a junction), עט (a pen) . these words have a feminine sound but they are actually masculine. there are many more exceptions in Hebrew... as we use to say: עברית שפה קשה (-:
