Shouldn't "That jewelry is not my grandma's" be accepted as correct answer?

Yes and no. Both options are equivalent, and both equally not quite correct. As a native English speaker, I would use either option when speaking.

The correct translation, and the form I would use when writing, is "That is not the jewelry of my grandmother."

It is true that my written English is different from my spoken English - I learnt to speak as a small child and continue that form when speaking. My writing has been in a formal academic environment for decades, where " 's " is minimized or eliminated. Referring back to the given Czech sentence, we see it matches perfectly to the formal English form, "That is not the jewelry of my grandmother."

Regardless, few native English speakers would use that most correct form when speaking. It would sound pompous.

Proč je tam "is" a ne "are" když se mluví o špercích, tedy o množném čísle?

Existuje přece jewel jako šperk a jewelry/jewellery jako šperky. A dá se použít v té anglické větě i to "are" nebo jen "is"?

Jewelry je nepočitatelné hromadné. Jako třeba zrní, harampádí, nářadí. Lze tam pouze is.

Plurál od jewel je jewels.
