Around 50% of English vocabulary has Romance origin, mostly Old French but also Neo-Latin and Italian and a few Spanish words. Spanish also has French, Neo-Latin, Italian and English words. Then, it is easier than it could be expected :)

It definitely ads something to the experience, hunting for the similarities. There's the obvious ones (car/carro, route/ruta, etc.), but as you continue to study you will find more and more subtle connections. 'Viajar' for 'travel' sounds like 'voyage.' 'Encontrar' for 'find' sounds like 'encounter.'

Of course! In my opinion, Spanish is very easy to learn after English :)
