Googled the 'ss' spelling reform. Germans and Austrians are fighting in the trenches to keep the ' double s' symbol, while the Swiss ditched it years ago. And it's only a partial phase-out, just to keep things complicated. Still, the English persist with ' through ' instead of ' thru ', even though ( tho ?) a certain Ph.D blogger I follow keeps writing it as ' thought '.


I have heard that the German 'double s' symbol is being phased out. Is this true?
