Hello those of you who think this sentence is silly or stupid. Maybe it's Duo trying to teach you about personification in literature. You could easily come across this sentence if you ever read Spanish literature.

Why are these sentences so ridiculous? Dogs can’t write letters. Why can’t the sentences be realistic. This is not something Duolingo should be teaching.

I can only guess, but the use of nonsense sentences FORCES us to know the grammar, or to learn it if we don't know it. I'll agree we aren't learning much in the way of new vocabulary in this chapter, but I'm open to the idea that there is some other pedagogical aim.
